SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement) accreditation

SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement) Accreditation

SSIP (Safety Schemes in Procurement) accreditation is a widely recognised certification that demonstrates your organisation’s commitment to high health and safety standards.

Gaining SSIP accreditation helps businesses streamline the pre-qualification process for tenders and contracts, making it easier to secure work with clients who require strong safety compliance.

Our SSIP Accreditation Services guide you through the application and compliance process, ensuring your business meets the necessary requirements efficiently and effectively.

What is SSIP Accreditation?

SSIP accreditation is a certification that verifies a business's compliance with UK health and safety regulations, particularly in the construction and related industries. It simplifies the pre-qualification process by providing assurance to clients that your company meets industry-standard health and safety criteria, reducing the need for multiple assessments across various safety schemes.

Our SSIP Accreditation Services

We offer comprehensive SSIP accreditation services designed to help your organisation achieve certification quickly and with minimal disruption. Our services include:

  • Pre-Accreditation Assessment: Conduct a thorough review of your current health and safety practices to identify gaps and areas for improvement. This initial assessment ensures that your organisation meets SSIP standards before applying for accreditation.
  • Document Preparation and Support: Assist in compiling the necessary documentation required for SSIP accreditation. We help you create, review, and organise health and safety policies, risk assessments, and other essential records to ensure they meet the stringent SSIP criteria.
  • Tailored Action Plans: Develop customised action plans to address any areas of non-compliance identified during the pre-assessment. This includes implementing corrective measures to align your health and safety practices with SSIP standards.
  • Application Assistance: Guide you through the SSIP application process, ensuring all documentation is submitted correctly and promptly. We liaise with accreditation bodies to facilitate a smooth process and minimise delays.
  • Audit and Inspection Preparation: Prepare your business for SSIP audits and inspections by conducting mock audits and providing training on what to expect. This ensures your team is ready for the final assessment.
  • Ongoing Compliance and Maintenance: Provide ongoing support to maintain SSIP accreditation, including periodic reviews, updates to health and safety policies, and assistance with re-accreditation. We help ensure your organisation remains compliant with evolving industry standards.

Yes, you’re free to choose the scheme that best fits your business needs. Consider aspects such as assessment and registration fees, as well as whether the scheme covers your duty holder role, such as Contractor or Designer.

If you’re already registered with another SSIP member scheme, you may still seek registration with a different SSIP scheme under certain circumstances through the “deemed to satisfy” agreement. Factors such as compliance and duty holder roles assessment will be considered. Details about duty holder roles assessed by each scheme.

Assessment schemes, initially originating in construction, are now widely used to validate health and safety and CSR capabilities within the supply chain across a spectrum of industries. For suppliers, ensuring health and safety competency is a duty.

Buyers typically request a stage 1 pre-qualification health and safety assessment before engaging in a working relationship, meeting legal requirements and fostering trust.

Undergoing assessment via an SSIP Member Scheme streamlines the pre-qualification process, emphasising the importance of proactive measures for a secure working environment.
